Cherry Blossoms

Nominations for members of College Council are open

We have begun the process for the election of new members for the College Council.  This year there are five openings, which include new members from all four divisions of the college:

  • Arts – tenure-track Professor (3 year term) [not from Art + Art History + Design]
  • Humanities – Teaching Professor (2 year term)
  • Natural Sciences – tenure-track Professor (2 year term) [not from Chemistry]
  • Natural Sciences – Teaching Professor (3 year term)
  • Social Sciences – Teaching Professor (3 year term)

The differences in the length of terms avoids turning over half of the College Council and multiple elections in a single year in future years.

Your department chair or director has received more information about the voting process (including a link for submitting nominations, which is unique for each division).  They should be sharing this with you if they have not done so already.

At this stage, you are being asked to nominate individuals in your own division and the deadlines are either May 11 (Arts and Humanities), May 12 (Social Sciences), or May 13 (Natural Sciences). Please consider nominating yourself or your peers.

The four individuals with the most nominations and who agree to serve if elected will be placed on a general ballot, which will be shared with you later in May.

NOTE: while this message is going out to everyone who holds a faculty title in CAS, faculty who are on leave and emeritus faculty are not eligible to vote.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out to either this email address (casefc@uw.edu) or to any of the current members of College Council with questions.

Sincerely,

The College Council:
