Responsible Conduct of Research - RCR training is intended to help sensitize the university research community to the wide range of ethical and professional issues that must be considered to ensure a climate of research integrity. The requirements vary from sponsor to sponsor.

The Grants Management for Investigators (GMI) course - The GMI provides guidance on the fiscal and non-fiscal aspects of managing grants, helps ensure an understanding of the grant process, and provides updates on changes to that process. The workshop (offered free of charge) covers the grant lifecycle stages that include finding funding, developing a proposal, starting the project, managing resources, and closing the grant. This course is required for all investigators at the time of proposal but is also a very valuable resource that can be used as an onboarding tool for new research faculty and research administrators.

Required Research Training - Those conducting research at the UW must take all required trainings determined by the sponsor and meet all internal requirements. The requirements are largely determined by the type of research being conducted.

New to UW Research page - This page provides useful information to research faculty and staff new to the UW, and is also a great resource for people already familiar with research administration at the UW. The page contains information about the Office of Research and our partner units, a link to the Research website which is organized by the research project lifecycle, links to systems that support the grant administration process, and a checklist for getting started in research administration at the UW.

CORE – Collaborative for Research Education – is the University of Washington’s research administration learning program. There are more than 60 online, in person and hands-on courses, all of which are highly recommended.
