Present: Lori Anthony, Brianna Divine, Angie Haggard, Catherine Holliday, Maggie Luning, Paul Miller, Bev Wessel
I. Meeting called to order at 3:07 p.m.
II. The minutes from the October 2017 meeting were approved.
III. University-Wide Health and Safety Committee meeting report: Maggie reported on the following:
a) Health & Safety Governance task force received 210 responses to their survey and will use the results to make a final recommendation to the provost.
b) For the December U-wide meeting each group will report on an accomplishment made in the last year. Maggie will share our groups’ success getting a safer access to the Burke Gilman trail at the Kincaid Hall loading dock.
c) Concerns about Humans vs. Zombies game were discussed. Notice needs to go out earlier and to more of the campus community than just building coordinators.
d) UWPD is putting together a task force to address the increase of trespassing by transients in buildings after hours. They also want to educate the UW community that non-UW people are allowed in campus buildings during open hours. Building use permits should be issued to all who expect to occupy buildings after closure times. Building hours should be posted at all entrance doors.
e) Facilities Dept. advised that all should watch out for slips and falls in dark, rainy weather.
f) UW Transportation reported an increase use of seat belts by campus drivers. Also, concern about the increase of low speed vehicles (bikes, motorized skateboards) and their potential danger to pedestrians.
g) Voting for members of the committee has closed and we will have a 16-member committee next year. There will be 7 new members.
