The following titles may be eligible to serve as a PI, but must be considered on a case by case basis for any sponsored research, including internal funding opportunities such as RRF. Each person seeking PI status will need Chair, Divisional Dean, and the Associate Dean of Research to approve.
Please email your Chair with the following information about your request and the proposed project. If they approve, they will forward the request on to the Divisional Dean, and the Associate Dean of Research for their consideration.
- why PI status should be granted
- CV of the requested PI
- grant sponsor and program
- start and end dates of the grant
- budget of the grant
The Dean's office will keep record of the name, position title, and expiration date of all approvals. Please attach the email chain granting PI approval to the eGC1 (under Internal Documents for the College) before you route the eGC1.

Incoming faculty who are interested in submitting a research proposal prior to their start date must be voted in by department faculty as affiliate faculty in order to be granted access to research systems for this purpose, and must obtain PI approval via the process listed above prior to submission.
