Principal Investigator (PI) Eligibility

A person holding any of the following titles is eligible to serve as a PI.

The following titles may be eligible to serve as a PI, but must be considered on a case by case basis. Each person seeking PI status will need Chair, Divisional Dean, and the Senior Associate Dean of Research and Infrastructure to approve.

Please email your Chair with the following information. If they approve, they will forward the request on to the Divisional Dean, and the Senior Associate Dean of Research & Infrastructure for their consideration.

-why should PI status be granted (please be prepared to furnish a CV if requested) 

-provide the time period, or the specific grant (including the start date and end date)

The Dean's office will keep record of the name, position title, and expiration date of all approvals. Please attach the email chain granting PI approval to the eGC1 (under Internal Documents for the College) before you start the eGC1 in routing. 

*Incoming faculty members must have a start date that is before the state date of the grant/contract.
