Stage 2: Formulating a Tentative Hiring plan

  • March/April: The College formulates a tentative hiring plan for the coming year, based on resource availability and taking into account known vacancy pool.
  • April: Divisional Deans communicate the tentative hiring plan to Chairs along with further instructions.
  • April-May: Departments begin to form search committees and draft ads in anticipation of hiring plan approval.

Stage 3: Finalizing hiring plan

  • May-August: The Provost’s Office opens the hiring report and the Dean’s Office works to identify the outcome of the year’s searches and submit the hiring report.
  • May-August: After the hiring report is submitted, the Dean’s Office enters the upcoming year’s hiring plan requests (based on the Search Approval cases in Interfolio)
  • July-August: The Provost approves the hiring plan.
  • July-August: Once approved, the hiring plan numbers are sent to departments with a prompt to submit advertisement via Interfolio for official approvals (see the 'Create a Position' user guide for details).
