Stage 1: Developing a 5 Year Plan
Back to Top- September-November: The College initiates a call for department hiring plans that describes and articulates what should be included in the 5-year plan and how decisions will be made by the College.
- ACTION ITEM: December 16: Departments submit 5-year hiring plan to Divisional Deans
- January-February: The College notifies departments who might have a potential faculty search in the upcoming cycle, referring them to the Search Approval process.
- ACTION ITEM: March 1: Departments submit the Search Approval process in Interfolio, making sure to provide the justification and anticipated financial and space commitments.
Stage 2: Formulating a Tentative Hiring plan
Back to Top- March/April: The College formulates a tentative hiring plan for the coming year, based on resource availability and taking into account known vacancy pool.
- April: Divisional Deans communicate the tentative hiring plan to Chairs along with further instructions.
- April-May: Departments begin to form search committees and draft ads in anticipation of hiring plan approval.
Stage 3: Finalizing hiring plan
Back to Top- May-August: The Provost’s Office opens the hiring report and the Dean’s Office works to identify the outcome of the year’s searches and submit the hiring report.
- May-August: After the hiring report is submitted, the Dean’s Office enters the upcoming year’s hiring plan requests (based on the Search Approval cases in Interfolio)
- July-August: The Provost approves the hiring plan.
- July-August: Once approved, the hiring plan numbers are sent to departments with a prompt to submit advertisement via Interfolio for official approvals (see the 'Create a Position' user guide for details).
Stage 4: Closing out searches
Back to Top- August-May: Departments iterate through the search procedures, identifying top candidates
- May-September: Hire final candidates in Workday and contact all search participants to inform them of the search’s conclusion.
- ACTION ITEM: September 30: Departments submit Final Terms of New Employment Offer to Sue Barnhart via Interfolio.
