- Hiring manager trainings
- Both “Implicit Bias” and “Record keeping in the hiring process” need to be completed and the attestations submitted.

- The navigation bar on the left hand side of the page has a lot of useful information. Suggested reading prior to initiating a search.
- Create position checklists:
- Union contracts
- The position’s job profile has the union in ( ).
- The contract has information on common situations like the rehire list, salary step increase requirement for “Promotions”, etc.
- Activity disposition codes for UWHIRES
- To maintain compliance, dispositions should happen every step in the hiring process.
- Interviewing
- Info and tips on conducting interviews.
- Extending an offer
- Make sure the offer has been dispositioned in UWHIRES before actually extending the offer to the candidate. Offers must be approved in UWHIRES first.
- Sexual misconduct disclosure:
- As of July 1, 2021, the sexual misconduct disclosure must be sent before HR can approve the offer. Once the disclosure is submitted by the candidate, then HR will review/approve the offer.
- Reference checks
- Note that the UW requires a reference check to the current (or most recent) supervisor prior to hire.
- Background checks
- All positions are considered safety/security sensitive and need a background check.
- HR will verify if current UW employees have a check on file at the time of approving the offer. If a record can’t be located, then we must run a background check.

- Once a hire is in Workday, UW HR is out of the loop and Employee Workday Help owns the Workday processes.
